Preparing Tunisia’s export sector for the EU Single Market for Green Products with the EU funded SwitchMed programme
The Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) framework of EU is in its final stage and the resulting policies could affect the ability of Tunisian companies exporting green labeled products to the EU. UNIDO together with local experts undertakes a pilot study to see what environmental and economic impacts the PEF methodology might have on Tunisian companies and to build local expertise on the tools of PEF.

Our team of green entrepreneurs, Heba, Nadia and Nareman, from Palestine Polytechnic University have just won the Jadara Initiative award of $5000 for their project “Treating waste by waste”. It is an innovative integrated treatment system that minimizes the economic losses for leather tanning wastewater and stone cutting solid waste industries, while improving the surrounding public health and the environment. Israel ready to boost efficiency in industries with results from the EU funded SwitchMed programme - MED TEST II component
Results from the MED TEST II demonstration project in Israel identify 2.1 million euro in annual savings and substantial environmental impacts for the seven industries from the plastic, chemical, metal and food sectors. Concurrent to these results, Israel allocates 50 million NIS to scale up resource efficiency in Israeli industry based on the UNIDO TEST methodology.

One of the most prestigious environmental awards has just been given to Khaled Fatnassi, a Tunisian green entrepreneur, supported by the SwitchMed programme and member of the Switcher community. Khaled Fatnassi, the happy winner, is the founder of a green company specializing in the installation of green roofs and green walls under the name SICAP (Engineering, Design, and Landscaping Company).
