Welcome to the Israeli country hub! Here you can find the latest information about the actions SwitchMed is carrying out to achieve sustainable consumption and production in Israel. Stay tuned!
On the industry side, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) supports the plastic sector of Israel in becoming more circular and to produce with recycled sourced materials that can, and again, be recycled. Under the MED TEST III project in Israel, UNIDO, together with stakeholders from the government and the plastic industry, maps the plastic waste recycling value chain and undertakes a market study for setting up a recycling PET bottle-to-bottle plant. This work will go along with the development of national guidelines that can improve the design for recyclability of plastic packaging and support the ongoing transition in Israel’s plastic packaging value chain.
At policy level, Israel has successfully developed its Sustainable Consumption and Production National Action Plan (SCP-NAP) (UN Sustainable Development Goal 12) and is currently implementing it. For further information please visit the Israel national policy hub.
As for green entrepreneurship, the Regional Activity Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC) of the United Nations Environment Programme Mediterranean Action Plan (UNEP/MAP) strengthens Business Support Organisations (BSOs) targeting green entrepreneurs and start-ups, by setting-up local partnerships and providing enhanced business support services. These services include the transfer of methodologies to BSOs and training, coaching and advisory services to green entrepreneurs, as well as activities promoting networking and access to finance.
