The substitution of lead in industrial anticorrosive paints in Tunisia: lessons learned and recommendations for the future
Several experts and commercial representatives gathered in Tunis to exchange experiences and recommendations regarding the opportunities and challenges to promote sustainable alternatives to lead-based paint in Tunisia. The initiative has been implemented within the policy component of the EU funded programme SwitchMed.
Civil society organizations, green entrepreneurs and public stakeholders gathered to discuss the challenges for a more sustainable development agenda in Palestine, under the framework of SwitchMed. 80 participants representing almost 70 organizations, contributed to define the green economy sector development in that country, and to identify drivers and opportunities to improve its performance.

Our Switcher of the month in July2018 is The Electrowaste Malta Ltd, a Malta-based comapny which pffers collection and recycling certification service for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). The 7 years old company is now comprised of 10 people operating over a 1,200-square-meter facility, whereas Refab works on a 600-square-meter plot.
Results from the EU funded MED TEST II project reveal the potential for resource efficient and cleaner production in Egypt
The UNIDO MED TEST II project has in Egypt demonstrated in 28 industries, evident examples on how the RECP concept can help businesses to make valuable savings in energy, water and raw materials. Last week, at a national dissemination event in Cairo, innovative savings from the companies were presented, showing that resource efficient production can become a driver for a green growth in Egypt.
The SWITCH side-event will focus on the benefits for SMEs, workers, consumers, and policy makers deriving from the SWITCH programmes, including SwitchMed focal point in Jordan, and how these contribute to the attainment of SDG12 in the target countries and globally. 28 industries from the MED TEST II project will present the potential of resource efficiency for Egypt on the 26 June in Cairo
As part of the SwitchMed programme, UNIDO supports industries in Egypt through the MED TEST II project to produce resource efficient, competitive and with a better environmental performance. On the 26th June, 28 Egyptian companies will present their savings on a final event in Cairo showing the potential of resource efficiency for the Egyptian economy.
Palestinians to discuss challenges and opportunities for a Green Economy during SwitchMed Synergy Workshop
EU-funded SwitchMed is organizing the synergy workshop in Ramallah on the 27th of June , where Green Entrepreneurs, Civil Society Organizations and Public Stakeholders are gathering to take stock of the Green Economy sector in the Country and explore ways forward toward a more conducive and inclusive environment for a genuine sustainable development.
Adopting eco-innovations is both good for the business and the environment. In SwitchMed, UNIDO promoted eco-innovative solution from the EU that now help the leather industry in Egypt and Tunisia to become more resource efficient, profitable and clean.
The session hosted by the SWITCH Programmes at the Project Lab, on 5-6 June 2018 in Brussels, offered the opportunity for women green entrepreneurs from around the world to share their stories of change towards sustainable consumption and production.
