The EU funded SwitchMed program has since 2015, implemented the MED TEST II project, to demonstrate a business case for resource efficient and cleaner production in Egypt. 28 industries from the food, chemical and textile sectors were selected to demonstrate the business case for resource efficiency in the local context of Egypt. Initial findings from the MED TEST II project indicate that there are indeed substantial savings in water-, energy-, and raw material consumption to be done. The MED TEST II project has once again revealed that resource efficiency is an efficient tool for the economy to help companies lower their production costs and save valuable resources to other parts of the society.

Best cases from the MED TEST II project in Egypt, will together with Government representatives and UNIDO, present the achievements made to other interested industries, wishing to find ways on how to improve their production to become cost-efficient and environmentally safe.

Together with representatives from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Environment, the EU Delegation to Egypt, UNIDO will also present a national roadmap for resource efficiency, showing how the TEST methodology can be furthered to other companies and sectors in Egypt.
