Lebanese pitch elevator event disclose a winner

The SwitchMed Programme in partnership with Fondation Diane, accompanied 8 Green Entrepreneurs to pitch their eco-innovative idea in front a 4 highly experts providing Impact Investing in Lebanon.
The Jury was composed by Ms. Diane Fadel, Founder & president of Fondation Diane, Ms. Corine Kiame, Investment manager in IM Capital, a financing institution that provides Matching Capital, Equity Guarantee, and Support Programs to a varied of qualified early-stage business and investors in Lebanon, Ms. Michelle Mouradacade, Lebanon Country Director of Alfanar, the first Arabventure philanthropy Organization and Mr. Fadi Naffah, Program Manager in Agrytech.
A broadrange of startups stood in front of the jury. IT applied to the waste management and public transportation, to eco construction services, up cycling of plastic bottles and organic farm were the areas covered by the companies show cased and that arrived at the event after a capacity building path offered by the SwitchMed programme. After all companies answered to the Jury's focused questions Easy Wall, the innovative company that makes blocks from recycled plastic bottles, has been designed as winner of the competition. Its founder Marwan Sfeir received the free invitation to join the SwitchMed Connect 2018 event in Barcelona.
The demo day has also been the perfect opportunity to provide a speed mentorship after the pitch where experts in green businesses models, marketing, sustainable production and access to finance met the entrepreneurs with the specific aim to share knowledge and skills at the service of the green businesses.
Speed mentorship activity
Other investors were present and impressed by the high level pitch elevator. To name a few: Flat6Labs, the Ventures' dedicated start up accelerator for seed stage investments and Mr. David Munir, co-founder of AltCity that recently launched Elevate Accelerator, a social impact startup accelerator established in partnership with UNICEF. Following the meeting Alfanar has even expressed real interest in investing in one of these green startups.
