To stimulate the green market, enhance a sustainable economy and boost a real financial inclusion in the MENA region, access to finance continues to be a top priority challenge to be addressed. Green entrepreneurs, more than any other entrepreneur have few opportunities to meet a wide panel of investors and to put their project in the spotlight. In this context, SmitchMed has designed in each beneficiary countries the SwitchMed Green Pitch, that aims at filling this gap between ambitions and concrete available resources.
In Morocco, the Green pitch elevator event dedicated to assisting Green Start-ups in accessing capital was held in collaboration with our local partner Centre des Très Petites Entreprises Solidaires.
SwitchMed and Moroccan local partner have first organized a two-days training workshops in which the entrepreneurs enhanced their communication skills and business models in order to be ready to meet potential investors.
On October 12th, the event « Moroccan green entrepreneurs meet investors » featured 7 entrepreneurs pitching their business for feedback from potential investors and stakeholders, who had been generous with their insights during and after the experience. The jury include representatives of famous private banks Attijariwafa, Crédit Agricole du Maroc, BMCE. Micro credit providers were also present such as MTC CAPITAL, Attijari Invest, as well as niche investors representing investment funds and business angels like Al Amana, ATTAWFIQ, Al Baraka.
At each pitch presentation, investors shared with entrepreneurs valuable knowledge and tips and provide them feedback in how to improve their business and the presentation.
"One of the key factors when seeking finance is learning how to choose the right funding for your needs: “when you talk to financiers, you have to talk their language” said SwitchMed project Manager, Claudia Pani.
Later the jury deliberated. The winner of this year's SwtichMed Contest in Morocco was selected : ZOUHAIR CHAKIR – STEPMOBILE
STEPMOBILE responds to one of the most pressing environmental and social issues in Morocco: pollution and degradation of the Moroccan environment, particularly due to untreated industrial water. STEPMOBILE offers industries that do not have a fixed treatment plant, particularly in Casablanca, an innovative mobile purification service for their industrial wastewater.

STEPMOBILE team will travel to Barcelona to present its business on the SwitchMed Connect in 2018, with an full exposure on international markets.
During the event, the entrepreneurs also had the opportunity to network with the potential investors aiming at closing deals in the future.
