More than 30 passionate young water professionals from various Mediterranean countries had the opportunity to exchange ideas, research results, entrepreneurship possibilities and advocacy campaigns on Nature-based Solutions for water security in the region.

SwitchMed facilitated a hands-on workshop on green innovation with a focus on nature-based solutions for water. During the 3 hours session, participants deepened their understanding of the concepts of circular economy and eco-social innovation and how nature-based solutions could be used as a resource in the circular economy. Based on the SwitchMed Green business model methodology, participants defined green business solutions related to nature-based solutions for water and then pitched their ideas in front of the working groups.

Participants showed a high level of engagement and enthusiasm all around, including high level of creativity in finding innovative solutions. Participants proposed, among others, a business model offering eco-tours of bird-watching in wetland areas or a project consisting of designing a system to harvest water and manage water sustainably in hotels of touristic coastal areas.
