A hike and a traverse of the marshes for an ornithological exploration in the National Park of Ichkeul, a traditional meal at Mabrouka's, one of the last inhabitants of the site, a relaxing dip in a thermal water and many other discoveries await you thanks to this new tour organized by Tunisia Ecotourism.

Tunisia Ecotourism contributes to the diversification of the Tunisian touristic offer according to a model respectful of the biodiversity. It provides also opportunities to the local communities. The agency was selected in 2015 as one of the most innovative pilot projects in the SwitchMed program, financed by the European Commission in accordance with the Tunisian Ministry of the Environment and the European Union Delegation in Tunisia. In this context, SwitchMed supports the agency in strengthening their business model, improving their ecotourism services and partners network, without forgetting their environmental certification process.

Last April, the experts provided by SwitchMed allowed the agency to reach an agreement with a French tour operator, Point Voyage, which is marketing the new ornithological tour co-created by the agency and the experts. The presence of Kévin Girard, director of the tour operator, had provided a technical and innovative look at the tourist potential of northern Tunisia.

Ichkeul Park, where the ornithological weekend will take place, is an important part of the migratory route, especially for the overwintering bird species. It has also been listed as a natural World Heritage Site by Unesco since 1979.

"This tour is very likely to find takers by the next bird migration season", told us the director of Point Voyage, Kévin Girard. Indeed, it has already been sold to a group of customers, which will contribute to both environmental and economic impact of the company.
